A friend of mine has just reminded me that, four years ago today, hundreds of us were snowed into our apartment blocks. We lived in these little apartments in the middle of nowhere in the hills and the forests. I'd chosen to live there rather than in the centre of town because it was quiet. Unfortunately those hills and the remote setting meant that nothing in terms of food or other goods was able to be delivered. We were stuck there for a few days. The shop was raided, all items bought, and the shelves were left empty. There was one bar in walking distance that was crammed full of chilly, scarf-wrapped students. It was a little scary. Most of us were trapped in and, with no buses able to get to us, some were trapped in the town centre and away from their apartments. Now I'm really thinking about that time and reliving it. This could be inspiration for a short story.
Thank goodness for little shreds of inspiration...
