Song of the Day: Define Me (Acoustic) by Bad Pollyanna

"I'm coming out
So call your friends and gather round
It's time to judge and bring me down
I'm in the box you put me in
It's dark and I can't see a thing

Nowhere, I need to breathe, I'm climbing out"

Song of the Day: Teddy by Razorblade Kisses

"Does the monster in your closet keep you up at night?
Do the toys in the attic give you a fright?
Are you fighting all the zombies in your underwear?
Well, I'm a big girl and I'm not scared."

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

As you can probably tell, I'm happy that today is the spookiest day of the year. I should have been at Whitby Goth Weekend right now but unfortunately couldn't afford the trip. It's quite a luxury and I'm sad I can't see all my wonderful Whitby friends right now.

That said I'll probably spend tonight watching copious amounts of horror films and giving out candy to little kids trick or treating in my neighbourhood.

Whatever you do tonight to celebrate Halloween all I ask is that you stay safe, remain kind and be considerate of those around you.
Have a nice night, blog-ghosts.

Song of the Day: Totally Goth by Roddy von Seldeneck

This is a song I'd totally forgotten about until now and it makes me laugh every damn time.
My friend Natalie and I used to sing this to each other, almost aggressively.

'Don't feed me soup with too much broth;
That's because... I'm totally Goth.'

Enjoy,

From YouTube: So You Want To Become A Goth

In the run up to Halloween it must be remembered how many Goths around the world are happy and filled with excitement right now. This made me think of this imperfect yet funny video that I saw years and years ago and fancied sharing with you. I used to find this so funny, particularly lines like 'Do not speak unless spoken to'
Enjoy,

It's October!

Ok.
Stop the press, guys.
Do you know what today is?

Today is the first day of October and I'm filled with joy!

I love October and the run up to Halloween.
As a result I'm going to make sure that every song of the day this month has a Halloween theme or is a bit Goth/alternative so as to fit in with the theme. I'll also try to post things along a Halloween theme like horror film movie reviews, Halloween YouTube tutorials etc.

I love autumn. I live right on the edge of a forest and so it is my privilege each year to watch the leaves change and fall. I love Halloween. This year, for Halloween, I shall be at Whitby Goth Weekend getting my spook on with friends in the very town that features in Bram Stoker's infamous novel, "Dracula" and enjoying the festival. Whilst I'm gone expect plenty of spooky fun right here on the blog.
Stay tuned, lovelies.

October/November fun.

At the moment I've been planning on ticking things off of my B425 list. One thing I've wanted to do for some time is to go to MCM London Expo or some big convention. Now I'd already planned on doing Loncon 3 in 2014 to see/meet George R.R Martin but I think it's time I finally do MCM in London. If I do it will tie up nicely with the next event I plan on going to: Whitby Goth Weekend. The plan would be to do London Expo from 25 - 27 October then to travel up to Whitby on the 31st of October for Halloween fun with the official gigs occuring the next day.
I'd be able to have a little gap between the two so I could vlog through each event and create some cool events videos for my YouTube channel. If this is the case then, you know, I'll have to pinch any penny I have right now but it should be fun. I'm excited already!

Song of the Day: Hurricane Party by Skeletal Family/Anne Marie Hurst

Believe it or not... I'm in this music video.
It's true. Sadly I'm super shy so I plonked myself right on the edge. There are moments when you can see my hair, legs, hands, but not really my face. Still - it was a great experience. Anne Marie Hurst is a wonderful performer and I've long been a Skeletal Family fan. This was the second music video I've been a part of and was so glad just to have been there. Though you see more of my drinks of cider than my face.

Anne Marie Hurst recently rocked Wave Gotik Treffen, a Euro Goth festival, and I've won tickets to see them this weekend. I totally love this song and the album, Day of All Days, is excellent and totally worth buying.
Enjoy,

Blonde Goths: They do exist!

I'm currently in the preparation process for Whitby Goth Weekend.

Whitby Goth Weekend seems, at times, like some sort of fashion parade. Everyone gets dressed up in their Whitby finest for a wander around the town with their make up applied and hair teased. Some people plan their Whitby outfits months in advance. In fact the sheer effort that people put into their costumes often leaves me feeling a little overwhelmed. Many think that all Goths follow the same aesthetic pattern: pale skin, dark hair, those lusciously painted eyes and a uniform outfit of black. This simply isn't so. In fact I'm currently preparing to do something many would think totally un-Goth.

Like the glorious Anja Huwe of Xmal Deutschland I wish to shine like the Polarlicht. I am currently in the process of lightening my hair. The top is great, all icy blonde, but it fades into Tully auburn/ginger. My hope is to be fully blonde by the end of the week before I head to Whitters - otherwise I may end up cutting out some of the auburn/ginger locks.

I will hopefully have my hair lightened to the correct shade, crimped and teased for next Saturday.
If not the dark stuff'll be torn out leaving me to look like the alternative Miley Cyrus...
