Mila Kunis the 'MILF': Our Online Responses To Motherhood.

Actress Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are celebrating the birth of their first child, a daughter.
The time following the birth of a child is a magical, tender time. Celebrities and fans alike have flocked to wish the couple their congratulations on the birth of their baby. Then, of course, there's the rest of the internet and the people that have flooded social media to inform us that Mila Kunis is now a 'MILF'

I've seen multiple posts in the past 24 hours calling Kunis a 'MILF' and for some reason it particularly ticked me off. I found it to be rather sexist and reductive. We don't see the same amount of attention given to Ashton Kutcher. Calling her a MILF doesn't celebrate the birth or congratulate her effort. It reminds us of how we see women: sex objects, the targets of desire. Even in this most personal, intimate time of her life we are being reminded of how people view women in the limelight. Mila Kunis is followed by so many Sexiest Women votes and awards from over the years. It's as if we forget that she's a talented actress and not just a body. People need to remember that women are more than their looks.

I think things like this just go to show that, no matter the joyous occasion, sexism is alive and well and that dark side of the internet is always there to perpetuate it.
