BBC'S "The Three Musketeers" Marks The Spot

With the clattering of swishing steel, the Musketeers fenced their way onto my screen tonight. The BBC adaptation of the classic has aired and I'm here to share my thoughts on the first episode.

It has everything. Shirtless men, sword fighting, an element of mystery, revenge, tragedy, action, romance, murder, suspense, women packed into tight bodices! It's sexy, it's fun, it's a real swash-buckling romp-fest.

D'Artagnon, Aramis, Porthos and Athos (Played by Santiago Cabrera, Howard Charles, Tom Burke and Luke Pasqualino) took to the screen giving a swoon-worthy performance. Peter Capaldi, our next Doctor, plays the villainous Cardinal Richelieu. There were brilliant moments of realism, for example when D'Artagnan leapt from a window only to fall, crash and have a moment of pain before getting up again. D'Artagnan also has moments reminiscent of the great Inigo Montoya in this first episode. Fans of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Borgias, Game of Thrones etc will most likely enjoy this series. Filled with typical BBC charm and familiar British faces along with some less familiar ones I must say this was a real delight. This ten episode series continues and I shall most definitely be checking in to follow the adventures.

All for one, and one for all.
