New Pirates of the Caribbean Film to start filming in 2015?

Within the last 24 hours, news of a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film have broken and spread all over the internet. Johnny Depp is about to whip out the eyeliner and reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow and I'm not sure how to feel about it all...

I really loved the film. The original film was so great. Then came a second, a third, a fourth...
The first three were fine but by the time the fourth was released it all seemed a little dry for my liking. I'm hoping that it hasn't been too long for us to appreciate a fifth and I really hope that there's a good script in place to really drive the project as I'd hate to see this franchise burn out having tried just a little too hard. Some film franchises get a little greedy from their own successes and it ultimately is their downfall. With the departure of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley the 4th film didn't feel like a strong instalment. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic but I am worried. I really loved the start of the overall narrative but it took a nosedive. Will this be a sailing success or will this make the entire franchise walk the plank?

Walt Disney Studios has confirmed that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to start filming in Australia in February 2015

31 Horror Films in 31 Days Challenge: Film Twenty Three: Wolf Creek (2005)

Since I've been cramming in horror films this will be more of an observation and collection of my thoughts on the film rather than a blog along post as I watch the movie. I fancied a break from blogalongs.

For me, this was a fairly forgettable film. Once you're done watching it, not much of it stays with you. Whilst I was watching I did feel awful for the victims, especially in those moments when a victim realised they had no hope at all and that running was truly hopeless. Finally! A character I had some sort of real sympathy for! That's all I ask for: something human in a character that makes you feel a pang of fear when you really want them to make it through the movie. This is a crisply shot film with a great opening. Then, as the plot turns sinister, the film is simple a depressing exercise in mutilation and torture as the group of holiday-goers are picked off one by one. I don't think it makes a good, memorable movie.

Another Turn of the Globe!

Sorry I've not posted as much lately, guys!

I've been trying to keep to my daily writing deadlines for my poetry and novel, create some new work for a short story competition and spend time with my family however I checked my stats for this week and there are more of you lovely people from all over the world reading - welcome to the new readers from Finland, the Netherlands and Romania.

I'm currently trying to get through a new book so I can post a review, this one doesn't have as much mainstream attention as 'Looking for Alaska' in my last review. It's a book from a talented and rather underrated author from Canada who I met a few months back when he was touring with said book. I look forward to writing the review and I hope you look forward to reading it (the review and the book itself hopefully)
