World Kindness Day

Hello readers!

You may or may not know this but today is World Kindness Day!
I think that a good way to celebrate is to go out today and, during the course of your day, do some small acts of kindness. Hold doors open for people, tell someone they're beautiful, help someone you see in trouble, pay for someone's parking ticket, call up a friend you haven't spoken to for a while, lend a hand to a friend in need.

Do whatever it is in your power to make someone's day just a little bit better. I hope someone else does something kind for you in return. Remember to think of other people. Be kind, be courteous.

4,000.

So we sailed gracefully, yet at great speed, to and past 4,000 page views. In fact last night my humble little blog here had 254 page views and that hasn't stopped today. The blog has been very busy the past week, usually getting about 100 page views per day, but 254 is a new record... well, a new record for a day where I wasn't tweeted and retweeted by a celebrity. I've been out gardening today and will soon be heading out to see my partner and friends to watch the wonderfully tacky spectacle that is the Eurovision song contest. Have a great weekend - Denmark and Netherlands ftw!

Eep!

So I guess it has only just hit me now...
 I have about 7 weeks and three days to write two collections of short stories and a short anthology of poetry. In submitting them I hope to win the prize of publication. This would mean that I would graduate a published author/poet. But it doesn't seem like much time, does it?

That's cool.
I'm calm.
(I'm totally not calm)

I'd love to officially be a published writer by the time I graduate. Am I efficient or what? This, dear blog-ghosts, may be another reason I'm quiet over the next few weeks. Thankfully I have several blog posts almost completed, saved and ready to roll out as time goes by. I won't forget you. Wish me luck?

Another week has rolled around in no time! Obviously my attention the past few days has been on my father (which I'm sure he loves) so I haven't had much time to collect many interesting reads. However it's Wednesday so I wanted to leave you with something. So here are my reads of the week where I recommend articles/blogs/websites I've found or that have been suggested to me this past week:

• The Worst Room - a collection of ads for apartments in New York. Some very funny entries here. "You expect me to pay how much to live in this cardboard box sized room?" (side-note: To say that these apartment listings come from craigslist should say all there is to be said on the matter)
• Bilbo Adventure: The adventures of a tiny Lego Bilbo Baggins in the big, wide world. (He cannot even handle it, guys. He can't even handle it)
• We All Draw @ Tumblr - funny comic strips.
• Now for some poetry - here's "Award Winning Photographs I've Never Taken" by Matt Phipps, I really enjoyed this.
