To UK Animal Lovers!

Having mentioned kitten/puppy farms in a recent blog post this is a cause I'd love to discuss with you. A recent petition has been launched to help end the cruelty that goes on in kitten/puppy farms.
Why are these places a problem?

The vast majority of kittens and puppies sold in pet shops have been born as the result of kitten and puppy farms. These are places where people routinely force animals to breed in order to sell their young for a profit. They often do not provide their breeding animals with proper veterinary care or affection and these animals often are not properly socialised. This creates thousands of kittens and puppies every year. Though pet shops may seem the ideal place to buy a pet, can you really tell where this animal came from?

Animal shelters are already full of animals waiting for loving homes. If you're currently living in the UK and considering getting a puppy or a kitten click here to find RSPCA centres in your area with pets to be rehomed and I'm sure you'll find a pet suitable for you. If you click here you'll even see a blog post I did explaining 10 Reasons why it is better to adopt an animal from a shelter than to buy one from a store.

In kitten/puppy farms the mothers are exhausted, forced to breed litter after litter, and their bodies left in a bad state from over-reproducing. These mothers are often kept in solitary confinement. This breaches the Animal Welfare Act and there needs to be further and more effective legislation to prevent this activity. You can help the campaign to end this just by signing this petition on the HM Government website.

Healthy animals around the country are being put down every day because there are simply too many animals, many without proper socialisation and poor health and all as a result of these terrible battery farms. They live in overcrowded and unclean conditions and often go without veterinary help. Do not buy animals from local traders at markets or in shops. Find local shelters, contact the RSPCA or speak with registered breeders to ensure that your pet is born from cruelty free conditions. You can find more information about kitten/puppy farming by clicking here. Animals are such a wonderful part of life and they deserve to be treated with love and respect, not exploited for their breeding potential so cruel people can make money from them. Help end the cruelty.

Click here to sign the petition against puppy and kitten farming in the hopes of ending this exploitative form of animal cruelty
Please pass the petition around to friends, family, colleagues and animal lovers.
