I was going to use this as a Halloween song but I actually had too many songs! Ahh! I was actually too organised. I thought we'd go for something a little more light-hearted today so this is "Demon Woman" from the excellent HBO show Flight of the Conchords.
As I begin to plan my upcoming trip to New Zealand, I can't help but think of the silly posters Murray has of New Zealand in his office from the show Flight of the Conchords:
Oh my goodness. I cannot even begin to describe how obsessed I am with this song. I've loved Flight of the Conchords for so long but only recently did I buy their 'I Told You I Was Freaky' album upon which this song features. It's so quotable and ends up getting stuck in my head all day. I think Flight of the Conchords are totally under-appreciated and I really hope that some day they get together to do another season of the show. It probably won't happen what with them off shooting movies and winning Oscars for their individual projects but a girl can dream...
Today is a definite Flight of the Conchords day. I'm a big Conchords fan and this has to be one of my favourites. I've got the I Told You I Was Freaky album playing. I hope you enjoy it, you little freaks:
Why aren't there more FOTC fans? Srsly guys.
It's such a subtle, entertaining show and it's really refreshing.
So much of comedy these days seems to be about pointing fingers, offending people and garnishing it with expletives. Flight of the Conchords provides two protagonists that, in a way, make fun of themselves. It's a thoroughly entertaining show full of brilliant songs. I own their CDs, DVDs of both seasons - they're great.
Centred on two New Zealanders who move to New York to pursue fame as musicians they only have one fan, the ever excited Mel, and their band manager Murray. It's a really light hearted and entertaining show. I highly recommend checking it out if you have HBO or getting the DVDs. This show has some great tunes, some wonderful lines and came up with the best excuse ever: David Bowie told me to do it in a dream
I actually first found out about Flight of the Conchords in sixth form when I was around 17 and a teacher played their song 'Foux du Fafa' in a lesson as 'educational material'
